24 JanLabor Day: A Movie Review by Andrea Meyer

A new motion picture is out in theaters called Labor Day.  One of our HOPE members, Andrea Meyer, has written the following review.  Please take a chance to go see the movie.  Thanks Andrea!

The movie stars Kate Winslett as a troubled divorced mom who is forced to take an escaped convict into her home. It is being publicized as an unlikely love story between these two lonely people. But what the ads are not mentioning is that it’s also the story about the grief of losing a child. The woman suffered several miscarriages and a stillbirth that she never recovered from and we learn that this loss might be what really forms the bond between these two. It’s not a perfect film, but it captures well the after-effects of such a tragedy.
